A young fox mourns the loss of his female, who seems to have been taken away to a nearby human city. He decides to go and search for her, without knowing that human law orders to kill any animal in sight. Helping the fox in his quest is a pendant that was originally carried by the vixen, and which turns out to have strange powers.

The peaceful cove, where some inhabitants of Beard Moss Wood like to fish, is troubled by a strange sea animal named Aquantis. This attention-seeking creature seems to enjoy being a nuisance to everyone. One day Aquantis finds an underwater city, whose inhabitants seem to be of a closely related species. The city provides Aquantis with an opportunity to find out something about himself and his origins. Unfortunately, it also turns out that he can’t leave, but must adapt to a civilized society he’s not suited for… for more reasons than one.
